Drink of the Day: Booty Drop

Thursday is here and I’m ready to drink! The drink I have in mind is called Booty Drop and let me tell you, it’s strong and beyond yummy. The recipe is very simple and consists of:

-1/2 oz. Rum

-1/2 oz. Vodka

-1/2 oz. Pink Grapefruit Juice

Mix the ingredients all together and serve in a martini glass. Even though the Booty Drop is served traditionally in a martini glass, a red cup will suffice. 😉

Let the good times roll. Cheers!

Great Thai-ms at Banana Bay

Let’s get out of the Inland Empire tonight and if the title didn’t give it away, Banana Bay is a Thai restaurant located at 18230 Colima Rd in Rowland Heights, CA 91748. I know… that’s a bit a far from my local suggestions but trust me, if you’re a fan of Thai food or want to enjoy a great happy hour, then this is the place for you.

Starting at 10PM-Close (Mon-Thurs: 1AM, Fri-Sat: 2AM), you can enjoy a large assortment of “2 For” deals. Let me give you an example. You can either buy ONE ‘Jack & Coke’ for $5.01 or TWO for $8.20. Yeah, these prices are a little weird but you’re still saving some money per drink and it’s even better if you’re splitting with someone. The “2 For” deals go as low as $7.29 ($5.00 if you want to include Jello Shots) and upwards of $9.11 for a ‘Hello Kitty.’ No idea what that is but it better be worth it. You can see the rest of the deals in the pictures.

No only are their drinks great but their food is amazing! I ordered the Combination Pad See Ew which not only filled me up but left me completely satisfied for being under $9. I gulped it down with a Thai Iced Coffee which was flavored perfectly, not too much coffee and not too sweet. After my meal, my friend and I decided to try a “2 For” deal and settled on the ‘Thai Tea Twister.’

Although it wasn’t bad, it was a bit much after already eating my meal and drinking a Thai Iced Coffee.  It was pretty sweet since it included Baileys, Amaretto, & Kahlua mixed with Thai Tea. Too much of this and you’re in for an awesome hangover. Maybe next time, I’ll order it at the beginning of my meal.

Anyways, if you don’t have plans tonight… get a group of friends together and head out to Rowland Heights. By the way, this place would be perfect for a date. Just a heads up.

Until next time.. Cheers!

Drink of the Day: Back to Basics

Sometimes you don’t have time to go out to have a good drink, or don’t have time for all that mixing and blending and straining…or maybe I’m just feeling lazy 😛

Whatever the reason consider the following drinks. They are easy to make, go down smooth, and if it’s a buzz you’re looking for, they are sure not to disappoint.

My all time favorite is Bacardi Gold Rum with Coke. You can just pour it and enjoy, don’t forget the ice.

Try the same Rum with Ginger Ale for something different. Bam! It’s that simple, and you have drink numero dos!

This last drink has quickly become one of my favorite simple pleasures,  although I have to be careful with it . Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey with Dr. Pepper. Let me tell you I was not expecting this to be so good, but I was hooked!

I usually add about a shot of liquor and fill the remainder of my glass with the other drink, but it’s all up to taste and how light or strong you like your drinks.

Enjoy, but most importantly, drink responsibly.

Cheers!

Drink of the Day: Mojito

Since today is our rest and relaxation day I figured that a cool, minty Mojito would be ideal for our “drink of the day.” This drink brings me back to when I was in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico ordering mango and strawberry Mojitos! Well, today is the day to make your own. They are very easy and mighty tasty!

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz Bacardi Rum
– 12 fresh spearmint leaves
– 1/2 lime
– 7 oz sprite zero or club soda
– 2 tbsp. Sugar (or if you would like to reduce the calories use Splenda)

Note: this recipe is for one glass, I usually just make a big pitcher of this yummy concoction, so just eyeball the ingredients and add more to taste.

Directions:
In a cool tall glass, muddle the mint, sugar (or Splenda) and lime juice. This basically means that you crush the mint, squeeze the limes, toss in the sweetness, and mash it all with a spoon! Add crushed ice. Add rum, soda and stir well. Garnish with a lime wedge and a few sprigs of mint. Serve and enjoy!

I hope this recipe can take you away to a point of utter relaxation as it does for me.

Cheers!

Drink of the Day: Scooby Snack

It’s Friday, Friday!! I am excited for this glorious day with no school and only 4 hours of work. Even though I doubt I will be doing anything it’s still a fabulous Friday! What better way to start off this long weekend than with one of my favorite drinks…the Scooby Snack.

Recipe:

1/2 oz Malibu® coconut rum
1/2 oz creme de bananes
1/2 oz Midori® melon liqueur
1/2 oz pineapple juice
1 1/2 oz whipped cream

To make this tasty treat you mix the rum, creme de bananes, Midori, and pineapple juice in a shaker with ice. Next, add the whipped cream and shake well. Strain into glass and shoot!

Have a wonderful Friday everyone and be sure to check back this weekend for more fun ways to spice up your life!

Cheers!
