Deck of 52 cards and alcoholic beverage for each person. A table is preferred but, the ground is sufficient.
How to play:
The object of the game is to “F*@% the Dealer” by guessing cards correctly, making the dealer drink. Everyone sit in a circle; the dealer holds a shuffled deck of cards and looks at the card on top careful not to let anyone else see. He/she then asks the player to their left what they think the card is (the number of the card only, not the suit). If they guess right on the first try then the dealer takes ten drinks. If not then the dealer tells the player if the card if higher or lower than their guess. If they guess right on the second try then the dealer only drinks 5 drinks. If they guess wrong again then the player has to drink the difference between the card and their last guess (say the card is a 10 but the player says 7, they only drink 3 drinks). Now the card is shown and placed in the middle faced up. Leave room to line the cards up in order as the game progresses. The dealer then repeats the same guessing process with the next player. The goal of the dealer is to have three players in a row guess the card wrong so they can pass the deck to the player to their left, who becomes the dealer and starts with the next player up to guess and so on. The person who ends the deck as the dealer must take a shot!
Rules: The next dealer is always the person to the left of the current dealer.
The next player is always the person to the left of the current player.
The object of the game is to roll both dice and get a 7, 11, or doubles in order to give out drinks. Everyone gathers around the table in a circle and place a cup in the center. Fill the cup up about a quarter of the way. The game starts by having one person roll the dice. If they do not get a 7, 11, or double then the dice are passed to the player to their left for their turn to roll. If the person starting gets a 7, 11, or double then they choose someone to drink the cup. As soon as the player chose to drink, touches the cup with their hand, the person who rolled they 7, 11, or double has to grab the dice and attempt to roll another 7, 11, or double before the player finishes the cup. If the person drinking finishes the cup before a 7, 11, or double is rolled the dice go to the next player and the cup is to be refilled. If the player rolling gets a 7, 11, or double before the player drinking finishes, then the cup is refilled and the two players attempt the same thing. This is repeated until the player drinking the cup finishes before the player rolling gets a 7, 11, or double, or before the people involved are to drunk to know what is going on . Which ever comes first.
The player drinking can try to move the cup closer using objects, this way the player rolling cannot pick up the dice and start rolling. Once any body part touches the cup then the player rolling can proceed.
Another player can jump in and drink the cup for the player who was chosen to drink it. If this happens then the game is between the player who jumped in and the player rolling the dice.
The other night, I held a birthday dinner at The Green Onion Mexican Restaurant & Cantina located in Moreno Valley, CA. They were able to easily accomodate my large group of 16 and managed to maintain quality customer service throughout the night, which is impressive. So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.
The food? AMAZING! I ordered a Chicken Burrito, “Wet” style with red and green sauce. The burrito was loaded with plenty of chicken, rice & beans. I was surprised that I was able to finish all of it considering the massive size. My friends ordered a variety of food including Steak Tacos, Shrimp or Chicken Fajitas, Chimichangas, and Enchiladas. Not a single complaint from anyone as everyone uttered the words, “I’ll definitely be coming back.”
Now if the food wasn’t enough of an incentive, the Margaritas were. I know, I know… more margaritas? But let me ask you this. How many places do you know that serve Margaritas by the pitcher? I’m assuming there aren’t much because they would have a tough time competing with The Green Onion. For $15 you get a large pitcher (bigger than what beer normally comes in) and it includes a straw. Yes, a straw for a pitcher (you can see it the corner on the picture to the right)! But if you’re with a group, like I was, just ask for a glass and you’re ready to pour the night away. I have to warn you, be careful! These margaritas definitely creep up on you. I’m sure my Patron shot didn’t help. Nonetheless, everyone that had one, was feeling pretty good afterwards.
So when you get a chance, get a group of friends together and head over to The Green Onion for some great food and even better Margaritas. Good times await at the Canyon Springs Plaza off the 60 Freeway at Day Street, Moreno Valley, CA 92557.
Don’t you hate it when you get angry and turn green, clothes get ripped off, and are left with small purple shorts? I know I do.. but if you’re part of the lucky few where that doesn’t happen, then you can turn to my recommended drink of the day, the Incredible Hulk. Although it’s a simple recipe, the price may hurt a bit. The recipe includes:
1/2 oz Hennessy Cognac
1/2 oz. Hpnotiq Liqueur
While this is a shot recipe, you can definitely mix more to make a full glass. Just stir the two together (to taste) until it turns green and you’re ready to fight along side Iron Man, Thor, & Captain America. Okay, not literally.. so don’t go try saving the world.. but you should feel pretty powerful after a couple drinks.
Here at Liquor Cabinets, we don’t always expect you to go out to get a drink and have a good time. If you’re on a budget, maybe you just want “to kick off your shoes and relax your feet” with your friends. That’s why we are introducing the “Recipe of the Day” feature and I’m starting it off with one of my favorite drinks, a Whiskey Sour.
The recipe is simple:
2 oz of your favorite blended whiskey
juice from 1/2 lemon (or to taste)
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, lemon juice, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
That’s all there is to it. Now get your “fish face” ready as you’re in for a pleasant surprise.
