What is YOUR favorite Liquor?

Here at LiquorCabinets we tend to have a strong affinity for Margaritas.

They can be sweet, sour, tart and even have a little kick to them. How can you possibly go wrong? Even so I think all of us can enjoy a beer here and there, some good wine, and occasionally liquor. So YOU tell us, what’s your favorite liquor?

If you chose other as your option, let us know which 🙂

Cheers!

The Edison: “A Hidden Gem”

Have you ever wanted to go back in time? To a different place, a different era. To experience a culture very different from your own. To get completely lost in a moment, to forget where you are, what day it is, and to simply enjoy and reminisce upon the past. Well, have I got the metaphorical time machine for you! The Edison in downtown LA, deemed “One of LA’s Swankiest night spots” by Conde Nast Traveler, is an inexorable treat. A feast for the eyes, ears, and taste-buds, this unique “industrial cathedral” is set in LA’s first private power plant which was built in 1910. This place will literally sweep you off your feet and transport you to a different era. The Old Hollywood Glamour atmosphere invites guests to dress the part and have a simply lovely time.

This place is a bit pricey, but they have a spectacular Happy Hour which is Wed-Fri, 5-7pm. You can indulge in up to 40% savings on selected drinks and food items. Take advantage of their 35 cent martinis and $5 food specials such as the sliders with fries.

They also have special events, performances, and you can even host your own party. On a Wednesday or Thursday, to reserve a table the “per person minimum” is only $25. This minimum jumps up to $50 on a Friday or Saturday (and don’t forget about the 18% gratuity), but I must say this is one place you just HAVE to experience.

I went with a group of friends and we reserved a table in the Tesla Room. I ordered “The Mistress” which is a vodka drink with hibiscus liquor and other exotic flavors (as shown in the picture to the right, it’s the pretty pink drink), “The Edison” which features bourbon and pear brandy, and the “Eye of the Beholder” which is a blend of tequila, lemon, and jalepeno (a spicy, unique cocktail indeed). We also ordered some of their absolutely delicious food. I had the fresh baked Bavarian pretzel which is served with a fluffy white cheese sauce for dipping. Some of the other things ordered include the Truffled Mac n Cheese and the Corn Fritters.

As if what we ordered wasn’t enough, we had to get a bottle of Absinthe from the Absinthe Fairy. A lovely young lady wearing gilded fairy wings wheels around a cart of diverse bottles of absinthe (featured in the photo, it’s the bottle topped with the cork) available for purchase. So, we all shared a shot of absinthe and it really set the night off.

This place is truly something memorable. It is literally hidden in an alley, so be sure get directions ahead of time. If you are ever in downtown LA or just want something fun to do check out The Edison, see what all the buzz is about! It is located at 108 W 2nd St #101 Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Also, check out their AMAZING website. If my post doesn’t get you in the mood to visit this extraordinary place, the website definitely will. Check it out! http://www.edisondowntown.com/

I definitely want to go here again soon and hopefully you will want to experience this place too!

Cheers!

Elephant Bar in the Room

While Elephant Bar is known for their amazing food and unfortunately high prices, their Happy Hour menu is something that’s friendly on your wallet. Most places don’t offer a large variety but here we get quite a nice selection. Non-alcholic specialty drinks start at $2.00 while what we really want, alcoholic drinks start at $3.00 and go to only $5.00.

For $3.00, you can get our most recommended drink, the House Margarita. Of course, if you aren’t looking for hard liquor, then a

domestic beer is just a couple words away. Then at $4.00, you can get yourself a nice Mojito or even a Mai Tai. Here, the list gets bigger as far as variety goes. Finally you top it all off with a Long Island or a SKYY infused martini for $5.00.

For the full list of drinks, click HERE.

On that list, you’ll also notice their appetizer specials as well as a Happy Hour Combo. For only $6.50, you get a burger, fries, and a domestic beer. You can upgrade the type of beer you like for $1.00-$2.00 more. Not bad if you ask me. The other great thing is that you aren’t limited to these deals by a certain day. You can enjoy them Monday-Friday from 3:00pm-7:00pm and 9:00pm-CLOSE seven days a week. So head over to 3775 Tyler Street, Suite A, Riverside, CA to get your drink on! But please remember to drink and drive responsibly so don’t get carried away by these low prices!

Until next time… Cheers!

Night Out in Downtown San Diego

El Dorado Cocktail Lounge

It’s girls night and the night is young. My friends and I start our night early by making our way to El Dorado’s happy hour that last from 5pm-9pm everyday. El Dorado is located right before you actually hit the heart of Downtown San Diego but don’t be fooled by the location of this cocktail lounge! The area may not seem up to standard but once you enter, you won’t want to leave.

El Dorado is different than any other bar or lounge in Downtown San Diego. The atmosphere is casual and the crowd is beyond friendly. The lounge is quite small but has more than enough seats at the bar to sit at. However, if you’re lucky enough, you can snag a booth for you and your buddies to chill at.

Moscow Mule

Straight to the bar we go, a round of Moscow Mules for everyone! The drink is not served in an ordinary cup but a large jar filled to the rim with delicious goodness. The Moscow Mule consists of vodka, sugar syrup, lime juice, and ginger beer all topped off with a sprig of fresh mint and a wedge of lime. During happy hour, this fabulous joint serves up free seasoned popcorn with a little spicy kick to go with your Moscow Mule (which is only $5.) The drink seems endless and leaves you feeling more than satisfied.

Now throwback those Moscow Mules because it’s time to hit the dance floor! El Dorado has a DJ playing all types of music to get down to and a small dance floor to shake what your mama gave you! There’s no reason to be shy because the atmosphere is inviting, the drinks are good, and there are plenty of people to mingle with.

El Dorado turned me in a Moscow Mule lover and I’m sure once you visit this place you’ll understand why. It’s not just because the drinks are great and the popcorn is free, it’s because the atmosphere is comfortable and the people are welcoming. I’ll see you again soon El Dorado and that’s a promise!

Cheers!
