Drink of the Day: Tropical Delights

Aloha!! Today I am feeling in a bit of a tropical mood. Here are some fabulous drink recipes for some of the top ten tropical drinks as shared by whattodrink.com. (See their full list of the top ten tropical drinks at… http://www.whattodrink.com/tropicaldrinks/)

First up we have the lovely Blue Hawaiian:

Ingredients:

-3/4 oz Light Rum
-3/4 oz Vodka
-1/2 oz Blue Curacao
-3 oz Pineapple Juice
-1 oz Sweet & Sour Mix

Directions:

Combine ingredients and mix well. If using ice, mix in a blender. Serve in a tall glass. Garnish with a pineapple slice.

Next its time to get loose with a Hurricane:

Ingredients:

• 2 oz light rum (try Meyers Silver)
• 2 oz dark rum (Try Meyers Dark or Appleton Estate)
• 2 oz passion fruit juice
• 1 oz orange juice
• 1 Tbsp simple syrup
• 1 Tbsp grenadine
• juice of one half lime
• orange slice and cherry for garnish

Directions:

Toss everything into a shaker with ice and mix well. Pour into chilled hurricane glass. Garnish with orange slice, cherry, and mini umbrella.

Finally, everyone loves a Mai Tai:

Ingredients:

-1/2 oz. Curacao, orange
-1 oz. Rum, dark
-1 oz. Rum, light
-1/3 oz. (fresh) Lime Juice
-1/2 oz. Orgeat Syrup
-1/6 oz  sugar syrup

Directions:

Shake everything except the dark rum in a shaker filled with ice. Strain into high ball glass over ice. Float with the dark rum and garnish with pineapple spear, lime peel, and straw.

So… next time you feel a little fruity, or the island breezes are calling your name, just whip up one of these lovely concoctions and relax the day away!

Cheers!
